Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before you book
How often should I have my piano tuned?
Most pianos should be tuned at least once or twice a year. If your piano is played regularly, twice a year is ideal. Churches and venues that use their piano frequently may benefit from tuning every three to four months.
How long does a piano tuning take?
A standard tuning typically takes about one to one and a half hours. If your piano hasn’t been tuned in several years, it may need a pitch raise first, which can add some time. I’ll always let you know upfront.
Do I need to do anything to prepare?
Not much! Just make sure the area around your piano is accessible and reasonably quiet during the appointment. I’ll take care of everything else.
What if my piano hasn’t been tuned in a long time?
No need to be embarrassed — it happens more often than you’d think! If your piano is significantly out of tune, it may need a pitch raise before the final tuning. I’ll assess it when I arrive and walk you through exactly what’s needed and what it will cost before I do anything.
Are you certified?
Yes. I’m certified and have over 40 years of hands-on experience. I have two degrees, one in Piano Tuning & Technology and another in Rebuilding & Restoration. I was also trained by an experienced mentor, which gave me a foundation that no classroom alone can provide.
How much does it cost?
Pricing is fair and transparent. The service page will explain what’s included along with the price. If for some reason your piano needs more, I’ll give you a clear quote before any work begins — no surprises, no hidden fees. Call or book online and I’ll be happy to give you an estimate.
Do you service churches and venues?
Absolutely. I regularly tune pianos for churches, chapels, and event venues. I also provide services for colleges and universities. I will work around your schedule and make sure there’s minimal disruption to your week.
